Limoncello Svago @ Suria KLCC

On the night we arrived at KL, we decided to head over to KLCC for shopping and dinner.
It was tough deciding what to eat and after 45 minutes we decided to go for Italian food @ Limoncello.
This bar/restaurant is facing the symphony fountains and just right next to Starbucks (ground floor).

When we arrived it was almost 7.30 pm and we chose to sit at a lighted corner. They are quite a number of people sitted outside enjoying the view of the fountain or just simply people-watching.

We quickly browsed through the menu.

We ordered their limoncello, beef ravioli, Divla pizza and Vedure salad.
The last time we had limoncello was in Santorini and I kinda like it although I have near zero tolerance of alcohol.

Limoncello (RM 18.80)

The Vedure salad came next and I enjoyed it a lot. However, hubby thinks the sauce is just too much and they should have kept it lighter. The grilled aubergine and the basil leaf gave this salad a wonderful taste.

Vedure Salad (RM 18.80)
The Beef ravioli did not meet my expectation. The ravioli's are too flat and this gave me the impression that the chef is trying to stinge on the filling. The beef tasted too soft for my liking. Anyway, I expected more oomph from this dish.

Beef Ravioli (RM 28.80)

The Divla pizza was served shortly after the ravioli. This is another disappointment. The pizza was so normal that I think one can make better pizza at home, seriously!

Divla pizza (RM 29.80)
The total bill came up to RM 111.60 including government tax and service charge.
I honestly think I would not patron this place again:(

Wondermilk @ Publika

Decided to drop by Wondermilk Cafe after our hearty lunch at San Nae Duel.
Apparently this cafe is famous for their variety of cupcakes.

Managed to snap some photos of the shop and a little bit of camwhoring:)

Cupcakes galore

The idea of taking this shot was suggested by Evelyn's housemate. Good idea!

We bought 4 types of cupcakes for RM 17.

From L-R clockwise: Coffee Circus, Foxy Red Velvet, Oh My Peanut Butter Choc, Carrot Top

San Nae Deul @ Publika

Last Sunday, we met up with my sister Evelyn and her housemate for lunch at Publika. I told her I wanted to have Korean food and so she suggested San Nae Deul. She goes for lunch at least once week since her office is just located at Publika.

I'm not a food critique unless I feel that I can cook better than what's offered by the restaurant. Since Korean food is not my specialty, I honestly felt that the food was quite nice. I might come again to this restaurant to try their BBQ.

I ordered their hot spicy meat soup. FYI it's not spicy, at least not for my level. Haha..

Yuk Gae Jang (RM 22)

Evelyn ordered the bbq beef and kimchi soup set. I can't remember the Korean name for this.

BBQ Beef and Kimchi soup set (RM 23)

Hubby ordered the set meal which consists of squids and pork belly with kimchi. Guess how much?

Squid with pork belly and kimchi rice set (RM 15).

The side dishes that came along with our meal..

A variety of side dishes that compliments our main order

Last but not least, the faces of the satisfied customers and happy tummies.

Smiley faces after a good meal

Sunway Putra Hotel KL

Hubs and I went to KL last Sunday and stayed at Sunway Putra Hotel near PWTC. This 5 star hotel was previously known as The Legend Hotel. We booked via Booking.com but somehow the payment did not go through. Nevertheless, booking.com told us the room will be hold until 6pm.
To cut the story short, we arrived and were told that they've upgraded our room to the Crest room. Wheee!!!

Here's some pictures of the hotel interior and swimming pool.

Shepherd's Pie

I woke up this morning with a rumbling tummy. After searching for the right and easy Shepherd's pie recipe, I settled for the ones from Michael Roux and Gordon Ramsay, and tweaking them a little and omitting some ingredients.

Serves 3 (each person 2 slices)
Ingredients:
Filling
Minced beef
1/2 onion - chopped finely
3 cloves garlic - chopped finely
1 carrot - chopped finely
1/4 cup frozen peas and corn
1 bay leaf - crushed
1 tbsp rosemary
4 tbsp tomato sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Red wine (10ml but I think you can put more than that)
Ground pepper and salt to taste

Mash
3 medium sized potatoes
3 tbsp butter
10ml mill
Ground pepper and salt to taste

Method:
1. Boil the potatoes in a pot. Do add some salt into the water.
2. In a separate pan, brown the minced beef. I did not use any oil since there's oil from the beef itself.
3. Once beef is browned, remove and set aside.
4. Add some oil in the pan and put in the onions and carrots and fry until they're slightly brown.
5. Next, add in the garlic and keep frying for at least 1 minute. Then add in the green peas and corn.
6. Keep frying and then add in the minced beef. Fry for about 2 minutes, and add in the rosemary, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce and bay leaf.
7. Lastly, add in red wine, ground pepper and salt.
8. Give it a final stir and put the filling aside.
9. By now your potatoes should be soft. Remove from heat and peel of the skin.
10. Placed all the potatoes into a pot, add in the butter and milk and start mashing baby!

(At this step, you can start to preheat your oven to 180 C)

11. Once the potatoes are all mashed up, you can now transfer your filling into a baking dish.
12. Once the the baking dish is filled up, spread your mash on top of the filling.
13. Place the baking dish into the oven and bake for 30 minutes. I increased the temperature to 200 C for the final 10 minutes.

Some pictures:

The filling
It slipped my mind to take pictures of the mash, and the whole thing before it went into the oven.

The final result.. I think it looks nice..what do you think?

Our Shepherd's Pie
Can you resist a slice of Shepherd's Pie?

The night we had everything grilled..

Hubby prepared all these for dinner last week. Hmm why I am blogging about dinner last week?

The grilled pork was fantastic...yumz..We ate and ate..and realized the potatoes were too much...So next time, we should be able to estimate how many potatoes to boil for dinner. I reckon 1 or 2 would be just nice.

Sam's Groceria@Gurney Paragon

This is one belated post.
We went to Sam's Groceria last weekend after church with the intention of having lunch at Sam's Deli (they seem to have a delectable selection of food). However, there was a change of plan since Sam's Deli was packed and there we not enough places to sit and dine.
Well, to cut the long story short, we had lunch elsewhere and then went back down to Sam's Groceria, just adjacent to the Deli.

Sam's Groceria sells plenty kinds of foodstuff, especially imported ones. I recently found out that it is owned by Mydin Mohamed Holdings. Yes, it's the same Mydin company which opens Mydin Mart. You can read about this here.

I tried (believe me when I say I tried) to snap photos of the place, but was given stares by the salesperson. The 3rd attempt got me a 'warning' from one of the staff. I just wanted to promote the place, WTH?

I like the way Sam's Groceria arrange their spices. It's easier to choose what you need and the price displayed is large enough for anyone to see.

Sam's Groceria carries a vast selection of cheese.

We walked around for about half an hour. All hubby bought was ginger powder, kurma powder and  imported Kit Kat.

BB Coffee Shop@Bayan Baru, Penang

One of Evelyn's request when she was here is to eat laksa, so we brought her to BB Coffee Shop.
This humble coffee shop is located near Sunshine Square at Bayan Baru, Penang.
One of the reasons why I like to come here for my makan is because of the famed Penang Road laksa.

In case you do not know what laksa is, please read here. There are several versions of laksa. The famous ones are asam laksa, laksa lemak, laksa Kedah, laksa Johor and Sarawak Laksa. This shows you that different states have their own version of laksa.

Anyway, the one I'm gonna introduce to you today is none other than the Penang Laksa, or otherwise better known as asam laksa. I absolutely love this laksa; the blend of sour, salty and sweet all in one bowl of delicious laksa, topped with 'hei-ko' or prawn paste.

RM 3.50/bowl

Next up is the Char Kueh Teow. ''Char' in the Hokkien language means 'Fried'. There are many famous Char Kueh Teow stalls in Penang but the one we had at BB was not bad either.

RM 4.50/plate

Fried rice was so-so, the ones sold at Alor Setar are spicier and tastier.

RM 4.00/plate
We ordered lobak from one of the stalls.

RM 7.10
You can't possibly get such cheap and delicious food in KL. So come to Penang, I bet you will put on extra kilos:)

Evelyn's visit..

My sister, Evelyn flew from KL to Penang last night. It was a one night stopover before heading to Alor Setar today to visit mom and dad.
Here are some photo's which is taken by hubby, hope you like it as much as I do:)

We took Brownie for a walk (to do his daily business) and then decided to pose for some pictures. Trying to get the fella to focus on the camera..not easy..

Finally got him to look at the camera...don't you just adore him?

Brownie just loves being around people..

Say 'cheese'.....

Did one effective trick to get him to look at the camera. It worked!

In the last shot, Brownie decided to show us his puppy dog (soulful) eyes....

Stay tuned to my next post for Penang food...
