Spasso Restaurant and Bar @ MyTown Shopping Centre

I chose Spasso for this year's birthday dinner. This restaurant is located at the ground floor of MyTown Shopping Centre. As I kinda know what to order based on reviews from blogs, choosing from the menu was easy.

We had Gorgonzola Cheese Fries which is simply yummy. You've gotta try this! The fries (actually they were potato wedges) were served on a very hot pan and then the waiter poured creamy Gorgonzola on top of the fries. Absolutely a must-try

Next, we had Iberico Ham served with toasted pieces of sourdough.

We also had their Garlic Prawns. Love these too!

The clams came next. They are quite nice, but I think the best clams are found at Two Sons Bistro.

Clams in Salsa Verde (RM 14)
Next, we had Seafood Paella which in my opinion is so-so as I didn't taste the socarrat. I prefer La Bodega's Paella.

We were still not full, so hubby ordered the Hawaiian Pizza - again, this was mediocre. Pizza Hut does a better job, honestly.

For dessert, we had Crema Catalana (Creme Brulee). I felt that it was too sweet for our liking.

The total bill came up to RM 282.15 (including GST and service charge, total RM 40,17). We had some juices and beer for drinks.

Zoo Negara (National Zoo)

When Zoo Negara announced a free entry to the zoo for all those born in December, I was ecstatic. Hubby suggested the visit sometime ago but we usually brushed the topic aside because it costs RM 44 per adult to enter the zoo. Since there is a free entry for me (Note: Must be used only on your birthday) and also I managed to get a cheaper ticket (From 11 street) for hubs, off we went to Zoo Negara on my birthday.

We arrived almost 10 am.  The weather  was good, not too hot. There we already quite a number of cars parked at the zoo compound. The was no queue when I went to collect my FOC ticket.

Happily we walked into the entrance of the zoo. Let me take you on the zoo tour. The below pictures are in order of the animals we saw first.

We saw the penguins, see the butterflies, birds and visited the aquarium too.  By then I was quite tired already. We spent almost 5 hours at the zoo! We really enjoyed taking photos the animals and the best thing is that we were not rushing for time.
I really enjoyed looking at the tiger, pandas, giraffes and the capybaras.

This is a good place to bring your family to hang out. There are stalls selling food & drinks, souvenirs, photo taking booths, trams (need to pay) if your legs get tired, benches and huts to rest, etc. The zoo opens at 9am so be there early to avoid the crowd.

Again, thanks Zoo Negara for the free ticket!
I had an enjoyable time there.

Bacon & Brews - Damansara Uptown

Celebrated daddy's 61st birthday here last month. As they just had their tea at IKEA, they weren't feeling hungry, so we didn't order that much for dinner.

We came early to avoid the dinner crowd and to have more time to talk without the noise around.

The Christmas decorations were up, but we were so engrossed catching up that I didn't take any pictures of them. Le'ts dig into the food.

I am a fan of duck. So when this pretty assemble came, I couldn't be more delighted.
As pretty as it looks, the duck tasted awesome. The meat was tender and the gravy complimented it.

This may looks like some normal fried rice to you, but it's actually Cheesy Kimchi Rice.
Tasted quite good too with the bacon. Yums! Eve recommended it.

Cheesy Kim Chi Rice RM 20.90

I can't remember how this tasted like. So no comment.
Signature Okonomiyaki RM 20.90
The Scampi White Wine Pasta was just so-so. Nothing to shout about. I would't order it again.
I would suggest adding more white wine and perhaps some chili flakes? Else just turn it into an Aglio Olio.

No matter how full, we managed to squeeze in desserts. These are pancakes topped with ice cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce. Lovely presentation, tasted so-so. The pancakes are too thick, IMO.

Chocoholic RM 18.90
I absolutely love this Rum & Raisin Chocolate Mousse. It was good!
