Hubby and I with a group of 7 other friends from church had the opportunity to go for a mission trip to Cebu from the 13th October - 20th October 2017.
Our Air Asia flight was very slightly delayed and we arrived Cebu around 4 pm. It took us about an hour or so from the airport to our hotel. In Cebu, it is already dark by 6 pm.
We stayed at this very cozy hotel called Cebu R Hotel. The rooms are clean and cozy. The breakfast....ah I love the breakfast. They have garlic rice with pork (different styles), pancakes, toast, eggs. Simple yet really good.
They have a piano which is in a good shape physically but the keys are out of tune and some really needed replacement. Nevertheless, like a fish out of water, I was naturally drawn to the piano.
Had the chance to entertain the staff of the hotel:)
Our agenda for the night is to meet up with the Pastors and cell leaders of Crossroads. Because there were 9 of us, we had to go in 3 cars. Hubby, Ben, Shine and me were in one taxi.
So it happened that 13th October was a Friday, a pay-day and also a day to celebrate some Catholic festival. Many roads were closed/blocked. Many cars had to turn back, and it was a massive jam. Our taxi driver could not bring us to the meeting place, so ended up 4 of us had to get down and walk.
I think we walked for about half an hour because no one wanted to fetch us. The jam was so bad:(
Thank God, we saw another taxi carrying Pastor Jim and family. Pastor Jim was so nice to get down and let hubby and I sit in the taxi. Dan's knee was still bad, and his ankle was still very swollen. I was coughing so bad. We were so thankful that we could sit in the taxi instead of continuing our walk.
We had to leave Ben and Shine behind, wondering how will they make it to the meeting.
Well, they managed to get another taxi and arrived safely to the meeting place.
After a series of introduction, we finally had our dinner around 9.30. We had rice and pork satay!
Note: Cebuano's love their rice and pork:)
Some of our team members tried Balut, but that is something I will never ever try no matter how good they say it is.
It was almost 11 pm when we got back to the hotel. After a round of debriefing, we finally went to bed.
