Gelato Galleria @ Koh Lipe

I love gelato, especially pistachio flavoured ones. Having reading so much reviews about Lekka Lipe, we set out looking for this shop but it wasn't open during the duration of our stay. Luckily we saw another gelato shop few doors away from our resort; GELATO GALLERIA.
We went in only the last day of our trip (should have gone in when we first arrived), because we gave up on hoping that Lekka Lipe would open.

Wall decoration..

I read from a reviewer that all the ingredients to make their gelato are flown in from Rimini (a city in Emilia-Romagna in Italy) and the owner was trained in Italy.

T
There were 3 cup sizes to choose from. We went for the Lady Cup, a mix of 3 flavours for 200 Baht.

Besides gelato, this shop offers other goodies such as brownies and cakes.

Our 3 flavoured gelato; lemon, pistachio and mint.

Enjoying our gelato-moment..

Koh Lipe: On The Rocks Restaurant @ Serendipity

This is one of the restaurant at Koh Lipe which has awesome views of the sea. To get there, one can take  the long-tail boat or walk. We decided to walk from Mali Resort to Serendipity through the Walking Street. We had to walk along small roads passing through the village in order to get to the other side of the island where restaurant is.

One of the high-end resort along the beach, Idyllic Concept Resort.

Finally arrived at the restaurant, all sweaty and panting.

We climbed up the wooden stairs to arrive at the most spectacular view.

The interior of the restaurant..

Guests can read, chat and relax here..

There's 3 tiers of dining option, one on the top, the middle and at the lower tier where you are directly above the rocks. We chose to dine at the middle tier, since it was hot at the lower tier (you knowlah we Asians...like to be under some shade).

For lunch, we ordered the restaurant's tomyam seafood, morning glory with taucheong, banana lasi and beer.

The seafood tomyam (175 Baht) was one of the best tomyam I've ever tasted. The spiciness and sour taste were at the right balance.

The morning glory with tau-cheong (100 Baht) was simply awesome. I finished everything to the last drop of gravy!

After lunch, we went down to the lower tier to admire the view and for some shots before heading back to our resort.

What did we do at Koh Lipe..

If you've done your research already, most people come here to relax, to snorkel or dive, and/or island hopping. In our case, this trip was to celebrate our wedding anniversary,so we spend most of our time walking along the beach exploring the villages, camwhorring, trying out new food, sleep, swim..etc. We initially were contemplating whether to book a snorkelling package or not, but in the end decided not to since it takes the whole day.

Our day begins with the American breakfast provided by the resort. They had muesli too, but we weren't interested. There are 3 choices how you want your eggs to be, scrambled, fried or omelette. Coffee or tea is provided together with a glass of orange juice (not cordial).

Someone's waiting for his breakfast...

After breakfast we usually linger around for quite a bit before heading back to our room to bathe. We spent some time watching Discovery on TV before heading out for our tour around the island.

There were many stray dogs on the island. Some had tags on them while some don't.

Dogs sleeping..

We walked into the 'Walking Street', where we passed many eateries, massage parlours, mini marts  dive/snorkel shops and souvenir shops. I couldn't resist having a photo taken here.

Saw this on the way to Sunrise beach...

Some chalets at Sunrise beach

We stopped by for lunch here at Sunrise beach restaurant and ordered fried rice. They were alright, quite fragrant but nothing spectacular. This was the cheapest meal we had in Koh Lipe, 210 Baht for 2 fried rice, and 1 Sprite. The owners weren't around, else I bet they would have recommended us their specialties.

After lunch, we walked back to the hotel, approximately half an hour walk (my pace..haha).

An extended view of Sunrise beach.

Usually we just chill in our rooms from 1.30pm to 3pm. It's hot outside, and nothing is better than being in our air-conditioned room watching TV or sleep.

By 3.45pm we were ready to go for a swim. Applied sunblock vigorously all over and headed to the beach.

Koh Lipe: Bung Roon Halal Seafood Restaurant

If you're looking for Halal food in Koh Lipe, I would suggest Bung Roon Seafood Restaurant. It's located along the beach, you won't miss it.

It looked like it was going to rain so we decided to sit inside.

While waiting for the waiter to come with the menu...

We ordered the Masamman Curry (150 Baht), BBQ prawns (200 Baht) and BBQ Squids (300 Baht) and a  Banana milk shake (60 Baht). Two plates of rice costs (20 Baht) each.

The Beef Masamman curry was delicious. It came with beef, potatoes and surprisingly peanuts!

The prawns and squids arrived moments later. They tasted like any barbecued seafood but when you dip them in the sauce provided, they tasted  ooh-la-la.

This sauce consisting of garlic, chilli, basil and vinegar (I presume) dip goes very well with the seafood. It was so good that we asked for more sauce.

The food seemed little but we were stuffed to the brim.
We spent a total of 750 Baht for dinner.

I'll leave you with a view at night from Bung Roon's.

Koh Lipe: La Luna Italian Restaurant

I find it strange that I've been really looking forward to patronize La Luna more than any other restaurants in Lipe. I know I'm weird, as most people would go for Thai cuisine when they are holidaying in Thailand, but me, no..I've been eyeing this restaurant for weeks.

Oh well, we managed to have dinner here on the 1st night of our trip. We followed the sign which led us to a dark alley (hubby kept asking if we were on the right track) and finally arrived at the brightly lit restaurant.

The wine bar..

Guests at the other table..

I looked through the menu and since I was hungry, it took me a while to decide what to eat since I wanted to eat everything! I'm such a pig..oinks! I finally decided on the Ravioli with Bolognese Sauce (300 Baht)  while hubby ordered the Seafood spaghetti (250 Baht)  and mixed salad (120 Baht) for appetizer.

The mixed salad was  refreshing, dash of herbs and black pepper. We mixed balsamic vinegar with olive oil and voilĂ  have an amazing dip.

Usually when I ask hubby his opinion of a particular food, 9/10 times he would reply 'Ok-lah'. This time when I asked him, he replied 'Good'. I felt so happy since I've chosen the right place to dine. Tee-hee:)
The seafood spaghetti came with generous amount of squids, prawns and mussels, and parmesan cheese.

Initially I wanted to order risotto, but they do not have that on the menu. So I went for their ravioli instead.
Superb! They had spinach filling inside the dough, and the bolognese sauce that complimented it was perfect. And who can complain when there was such generous amount of parmesan cheese?

We had a splendid dinner at La Luna's. If we had more days in Lipe, I definitely would have come back for 2nd or 3rd round.
