Weissbrau German Bar & Bistro @ Straits Quay

We went to Straits Quay last Monday for dinner at Weissbrau German Bar & Bistro. It was both our first time having German food.

Waiting for our food....

We ordered German Pork Knuckles, Emmentaler and Mussel in pot.

The German pork knuckles came in huge portion, enough for 2 persons. The meat was crispy, the rosti (pan-fried potato with butter) and grilled vegetables were great too. Sauce was too little, perhaps it was supposed to be that way.  I had to eat the meat with chilli sauce (typical Malaysian, everything with chilli sauce).

Crispy German Pork Knuckles (RM 48)

I ordered the Emmentaler, which is actually smoked pork meat and emmenthal cheese. They were yummy but very salty. These came with mustard dip and 2 sides (spatzli and sauerkraut).

Emmentaler RM 38

We ordered the Mussels in pot 'Seaman Style' but it was terrible. I'm not sure whether it was supposed to be so fishy and yucky but after eating one mussel, I literally vowed never ever to touch mussels again. I did not snap any picture for this one. Yucks!

In conclusion, I still prefer Italian food anytime over German food as the latter is too salty.
